Setubandaha Sarvangasana was described by BKS Iyengar as "a boon to mankind". This pose has many benefits in addition to improving upright sitting posture. With care, gradual practice, precaution and skill it can be adapted to help people with disabilities. It may take years of practice with guidance and assistance to stay in the pose. Knowledge of indications and contraindication is very important therefore ollaborative work among physical and occupational therapists and Iyengar Yoga teachers can be helpful in this endeavor. Special props and modifications are needed.
